144 – The Anti-Cancer Properties of IP-6 – My Interview with Dr. Abulkalam Shamsuddin

IP-6 inhibits cancer cell growth

Dr. Abdulkalam ShamsuddinCancer SupportInositol hexaphosphate (IP(6)) is a naturally occurring carbohydrate, abundantly present in many plant sources and in certain high-fiber diets, such as cereals and legumes. In addition to being found in plants, IP(6) is contained in almost all mammalian cells, although in much smaller amounts, where it is important in regulating vital cellular functions such as signal transduction, cell proliferation, and differentiation. For a long time IP(6) has been recognized as a natural antioxidant. Recently IP(6) has received much attention for its role in cancer prevention and control of experimental tumor growth, progression, and metastasis. In addition, IP(6) possesses other significant benefits for human health, such as the ability to enhance immune system, prevent pathological calcification and kidney stone formation, lower elevated serum cholesterol, and reduce pathological platelet activity. IP(6) is rapidly taken up into cells which further affect signal pathways resulting in cell cycle arrest. A striking anticancer Cancer Cellsaction of IP(6) was demonstrated in different experimental models. In addition to reducing cell proliferation, IP(6) also induces differentiation of malignant cells. Enhanced immunity and antioxidant properties also contribute to tumor cell destruction. Preliminary studies in humans show that IP(6) and inositol, the precursor molecule of IP(6), appear to enhance the anticancer effect of conventional chemotherapy, control cancer metastases, and improve quality of life. Because it is abundantly present in regular diet, efficiently absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, and safe, IP(6) + inositol holds great promise in our strategies for cancer prevention and therapy. About Dr. Abulkalam Shamsuddin M.B.B.S., Ph.D.
Dr Shamsuddin graduated Dhaka Medical College, University of Dhaka in 1972. Following Internship in Massachusetts and Residency training in pathology in Maryland, he was certified by the American Board of Pathology in 1977. In 1980, he received Ph.D. degree from the University of Maryland for his work on colon carcinogenesis. He joined the faculty of the University of Maryland as an Instructor in 1977, and rose through the ranks of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor to become a full Professor in 1988. For his excellence in teaching he received the Best Teacher award from the medical students many times, including the coveted “Golden Apple Award” by the American Medical Students’ Association in 1999.

Research Interests:
IP-6 Cancer FighterDr. Shamsuddin has been studying the process of cancer formation and the prevention of cancer since 1975. His research in the steps of colon cancer formation resulted in the development of a very simple and accurate screening test for colon cancer. This rather inexpensive test detects cancers at a very early stage, and even before they have formed; in other words, it can also detect precancerous polyps and other precancerous lesions and conditions. The test has been in use in China since the early 1990’s often referred to as “Shams’ Test.” He further discovered that the colon cancer marker Gal-GalNAc is a common cancer marker expressed through a similar “field-effect” phenomenon; thus forming the basis for a general cancer screening test such as for cancer of the lungs and breast, and possibly prostate and uterine cervix.

In mid 1985, Dr. Shamsuddin started his pioneering experiments on the anti-cancer property of inositol and inositol hexaphosphate (IP-6) – natural constituents of cereals and legumes such as rice, corn, beans etc. For the next two decades, he has reconfirmed and expanded his groundbreaking studies to show the efficacy of IP-6 and inositol against different cancers in various experimental models. Dr. Shamsuddin’s book on this “IP6: Nature’s Revolutionary Cancer Fighter” by Kensington Publishing Corporation, New York, 1998, is written for the general public. Aside from these Dr. Shamsuddin has contributed numerous book-chapters and published over 200 scientific papers.

Is there a difference in IP6 with Inositol Gold and IP6 with Inositol by Enzymatic besides Gold costing $10 more. Are they both vegetarian?

Compare the labels on each and see how they compare. Or contact the companies and inquire. I believe they are the same but you should confirm that.

Hi, My boyfriend has been on Cell Forter IP6 with inositol for Colon Cancer and then Lung Cancer three times. The colon started in 1996 and lung in 2007 and then a colon cell was found in the lung in 2008. He had two operations and cyberknife. Doctors are baffled as to how low growing his cancer is. He was on the pills of IP6 with inositol and I don’t think that we gave enough. Now we are on two scoops of the powder twice a day. His lung cancer appeared again to start up a little in the adrenal gland and slightly having an uptake in the left and right lung on a node by 1 or 2 mm.
We increased it now and I pray this will shrink everything again.

How would I email Dr shamsuddin. I have been diagnosed with cancer and I bought IP-6 but I don’t know how much to take

I’m sorry, but I don’t have any contact information for Dr. Shamsuddin. Start by following label directions on the IP6 package. Take the highest recommend amount. Then you could contact the company. They may have some specific guidance or can guide you to appropriate information. You could inquire if Dr. Shamsuddin is available. They may know. You might find a copy of his book on IP6. It’s dated but still valuable.

Hello I had stage 4 breast cancer in 2014, went through chemo, surgery, then radiation treatment… even after Dr told me to not take any supplements I continued taking IP-6 …5 pills in the morning, and 5 pills in the evening…also took Curcumin, And Vitamin D3… the tumor was literally gone before completion of chemo…still did lumpectomy and radiation for good measure.
I have continued with IP-6 and others, and just passed my fifth year without any return. Dr. Decayed, “cured”… I give most credit to the IP-6.

I’ve seen recommendations of 8-12 grams of ip6+Inositol if you have cancer. So if you take 2 pills and it’s about 800 ish (don’t have the exact number) and 200 ish inositol, that is 2 gram

Search the internet, it will say, for cancer take 8-12 grams of ip6 and inositol.

10 to 12 capsules twice a day. There’s nothing in them that could harm you as long as you get the vegetable based capsules.

Yes take the powder,8-24 grams a day. That’s a minimum of 3 scoops 3 times a day

Your product IP6 powder cured my best friend of stage 4 breast cancer that metastasized into her nodes. She was given 3 to 6 months with no chemo or radiation only hormone depletion. I researched and found your product we then went and spoke to a nutritionist. She is on 1 scoop of powder 2 times per day on empty stomach and in the beginning was on 3 times per day. It had been almost 2 years and breast cancer is completely gone and bone tumors have shrunk considerably. I now take this and so do all my friends and relatives and have been for a year and a half. Its has cured prostate cancer, diabetes, aches from arthritis. I cannot thank you enough or speak highly enough of your product.

I met Dr. Sham in Maryland many yrs ago . He told my husband in the 80’s to take IP-6 to take 6 a day for prostate cancer, Later he got thymus gland cancer and 9 yrs.hegot thymus gland in his left lung.He lived 29 years with cancer. Had radiation twice over the 29 years it kept him going thank God. Then last year I had 3 antibodies in my blood, I have 6 auto immune diseases. All arthritis related. I called Dr. Sham in MD. Antibodies of lupus. He told me to take 6 pills daily in 3 months the 3 antibodies were gone. My rheumatologist was thrilled but shocked. I told him what I was taking and spoke with Dr. Sham. He was surprised and happy for me . He is very caring man and so bright and kind. Diane L.
