032 – The World’s First Plant Based Calcium, AlgaeCal. My Interview with Dean Neuls

Algae Based Calcium is Growing in Popularity

Dean NeulsAlgae based calcium has made a big impact in the past several years. It is one of the growing list of products that are being derived from algae.  Algae based calcium has several features that are important for many consumers. First it is the world’s first plant-based calcium. Second it is more absorbable than many other forms of calcium. Algae based bone building formulas have shown results in building new bone. Recent studies in bone health have shown that you can rebuild bone even if you have osteoporosis. Evidence is also emerging that you need significant other nutrients that facilitate bone building. Interestingly enough we are learning that higher levels of calcium may have its own risks. The tendency in the past has been to push higher and higher of calcium in supplements without a corresponding increase in bone density. This has led to many years of frustration for women who have relied on this advice only to find they continued losing bone mass.

Emerging science has revealed the secrets to building bone naturally. It is the discovery of the benefits of certain nutrients that now allows women to be more successful in their fight against osteoporosis. Of course you need the common nutrients calcium, magnesium, boron, zinc and vitamin D. These are well-known but they are not enough. The following nutrients have been shown to be critical for success.

1. Less calcium – 600-700 mg per day.
2 More Vitamin D – 2000 to 5000 iu per day.
3. Vitamin K2 – Vitamin K-2 drives calcium into the bone AND keep calcium out of the arteries where you don’t want it.
4. Strontium – Strontium is used as a treatment for osteoporosis is some countries. Always take strontium apart from your calcium.
5. BioSil – This is a special form of silica which has been shown to strengthen the collagen matrix that supports bone growth.

A nutritional program like this can show measurable results in as little as six months. Bone density tests at one or two years is a reasonable time frame between tests. One women with osteoporosis that I know very well has rebuilt her bone density by a whopping 7 percent over 6 years. Other women have had similar results by following a program like this. In any case, you must get on a program and stick with it until you have a chance to test your results. You must have at least a starting bone density test so you can know if you are getting results. Then test again after a good amount of time (6 months to 2 years.)

If you are on any of the bone building drugs or if you are prescribed these drugs then you should consider if these are in your best long-term interest. These drugs have significant side effects, should not be used for more than 5 years, and ultimately lead to abnormal bone structure and fractures. Please discuss these risks with your physician. Only you can decide what is the best course of action and being more fully informed of all options is the key to making better decisions about your health.

I am confident that if you are facing osteoporosis you have options that can be significantly beneficial. One thing I believe is that you must use a comprehensive program that includes the above nutrients. With a program like this you could have detectable results within 6 months. I know personally of results that averaged 1% per year growth in bone density over 6 years. AlgaeCal is found in Nature’s Plus Garden Bone Support supplement.

I have had great results with AlgarCal. Bone density test showed great improvement. Doctor says test MUST be wrong, no way you can grow bone. Wants me to have another test in a year to prove the last test had to be a mistake.

Thank you for sharing. Isn’t it interesting that when your test is good then the test must be wrong. It can’t be that the supplements could be effective. Let us know what your test shows in one year.
