If you have osteoarthritis then managing pain and reducing inflammation is critical. Doing this naturally is certainly possible but is not always easy. Especially if you don’t understand your options and why different nutrients provide different benefits. Every nutrient is unique and your benefits are unique to you. It is helpful to have some understanding of the science. This is one reason to experiment with different products until you discover what products and protocols work best for you. In this interview we will explore some of the emerging science regarding the pain and inflammation of osteoarthritis.

You might have the idea that we already know what there is to know about nutrition and arthritis. And it’s true that we have wonderful science to light our path. But we are only beginning to learn what there is to know. As a result products are getting better and benefits are more predictable. That’s the case here.

Dr. Anurag Pande will discuss a novel combination of herbal extracts that has been clinically shown to reduce the pain and inflammation of osteoarthritis. We will discuss the science behind the herbs and what are the clinical results. The combination is call Nilitis and is produced by Sabinsa. You may have listened to some of our previous interviews on Curcumin C3 Complex with Dr. Pande.

Nilitis is a combination of Curcumin C3 Complex, Boswellin and Ginger. These are unique extracts created by Sabinsa and each is an important clinically studied herbal extract in it’s own right. However this is a case where the sum of the parts is the key to the benefits. The combination has been studied and clinically defined.

It is the results of the studies that gets me excited.

  • Reduction of Pain: 13.6% in 4 weeks and 27.2% in 8 weeks.
  • Reduction of Stiffness: 20% in 4 weeks and 40% in 8 weeks.
  • Reduction of Physical Disability: 20.8% in 4 weeks and 35.4% in 8 weeks.
  • Visual Analogue Scale Pain Score showed ongoing significant improvement.
  • 6 minute walking distance increased from 269 mt at the beginning to 330 mt at 4 weeks to 357 mt after 8 weeks.

These are significant clinical results and no adverse effects were noted.
