I know the challenges of lyme disease. I live in Wisconsin which is a hotbed for lyme. I have had lyme disease. I am one of the fortunate ones. I found the tick and I was pretty sure what it was, so I knew early on. I also knew the important of early detection and treatment. With early antibiotic treatment my lyme was eradicated. I know others who did not get early treatment and had serious joint issues years later. So this is not theoretical with me.

My guest, Dr. Cass Ingram, is also no stranger to lyme disease. His serious infection lasted over two years and led him to search for his own cure. Dr. Ingram’s latest book is entitled “The Lyme Disease Cure”. This interview is his story and his experience using oregano and other spice oils to facilitate his own recovery. This is no easy cure. I’m not sure that many people would think of using large quantities of oregano oil as Dr. Ingram did. He is unique in his love, appreciation and admiration for the medicinal benefits of spice oils. His experience is unique also in that he discovered how much oregano oil it takes to overcome a serious bacterial infection. So his experience is a case study of one.

Deer_TickIf you are someone with chronic lyme, you will want to consider the protocols described by Dr. Ingram. You can get more information at his website CassIngram.com. You should consider buying his book if you consider embarking on this program. By way of disclaimer, I love oregano oil and we always have some in our home and we have used it for many years. However, I have no experience in this type of application for oregano oil. So do your homework and learn as much as you can. If you are out of options for treating your chronic lyme, then you could consider this type of approach. This requires the consumption of a lot of oregano oil as you will hear in this interview. You want to be clear on understanding your objective and how you intend to complete the protocols.

If you think you are infected with lyme, see your doctor. Lyme can be treated with antibiotics when discovered early. Even if you avoid drugs and antibiotics in general, this is one time when you should not avoid their use. Especially in the early stages.  As always you should include high quality probiotics whenever using antibiotics. If you have chronic lyme it is likely you have failed antibiotic therapy. If this is you then this is a least an opportunity to consider something different.

As an alternative treatment, this process can take a long time. This is no quick fix. It is a battle to overcome this bacteria. In this interview, Dr. Ingram describes how difficult and life altering this disease was for him. His description of his illness is chilling as we realize how sick one can become because of this bacteria. He also brings a great deal of optimism because he is also a testament to the power of nutrition to support the healing power of nature.

No one knows. I cannot recommend that you treat a nine year old with chronic lyme disease. This should be done with a health care provider. This is a challenging infection and there are many variables.
There are many natural factors which may be helpful over time including lifestyle, diet, nutritional interventions and so on. I hope you can find a provider in your area that can advise you such as a naturapathic doctor or nutritional counselor. Try to find someone who has expertise in Lyme. In the meantime, learn as much as you can yourself about the disease and your options.

Good luck and best wishes.

Thank you for your skills in helping us understand the manyvalues of oils. I am just now learning and using thieves, Oregano and peppermint as a pain, rub and capsul not as much for dietary usage. I hope to find time to take a look at your book. But for now after a number yrs. using antibiotics. I am finding some usefulness in oils. Although I am using some antibiotics lately for a recent double tick bite in Dec. Thanks again,
